Disclaimer: I figured this would already be out there somewhere, but a search of this site and others revealed nothing (that I know how to use with DJ). Sorry if this has already been asked and answered.

I'm an old-school AD&D player, and am still partial to those "classic-style" maps. DJ's CLassic Dungeon Art Pack is awesome.

I'm looking for terrain and other symbols for "classic-stle" hex maps - like the original Greyhawk maps and those in the Expert series modules (such as Isle of Dread).

Thanks in advance for your help!!

Ideally, I'd like simple symbols for each of the following terrain types (perhaps with an appropraite color for either the symbol or background), where 1 stamp would fill a hex.

Badlands
Desery, rocky
Desert, sandy
Farmland, cultivated
Forest, heavy
Forest, light
Grassland
Hills
Jungle
Marsh
Mountains
Volcano
Water, deep
Water, reef
Water, shallow

And the following black & white markers:

Circle
Flag
Square

And the following black and white lines:

Dashed
Dotted
Solid

(I don't ask for much, do I?)

Thanks in advance - again !!

Does this help?

Just slap a hexgrid on it.

Or are you looking for black & white or monochrome art?

That's the best I've seen so far, at least that I can use with DJ. But I was hoping for something more along the lines of the symbols used in this map:

And for the reocrd, I wouldn't even mind paying a few bucks for this. I'm an older gamer, with more money than mapping- or computer-skills.

I believe that there's a free piece of software out there that will make these types of maps (quite easily).

Here it is.

There's a hex mapper, a town mapper, a weather program, dice rollers, and more. All of it very simple to use. I believe you can even make new symbols and integrate them into the software.

Pretty sure that example hex map was created in HexMapper and it can use alternate symbols sets. Pedrov has the link for it in his post and there is even a Yahoo group for it but little activity there.

Danielpryor--you can use Hexographer Link, a free hex-mapping program available from Inkwell Ideas.

Hexes are not my cup of tea, but it does its job really well.
