OK, now that the archives have been updated and are current (at least for the fantasy section: I'll break down what I have for ISO and put that in place shortly. I don't have the modern material gathered, and probably will not do that myself), it's time to focus on the next stage: updating the CSUAC.

I have found that I use a two-tiered system for organizing the artwork. You may be familiar with the first tier: it's organized by category, and is broken down in a fairly logical manner. It is most useful when I am after a very specific piece.

The second tier is thematic. In this theme I gather all the material necessary for a specific location (for example, the alchemy shop or the blacksmithy. This allows me to have all the material I am likely to need for a map in one location, saving me time searching and going after other artwork.

Obviously, artwork will appear in both structures, but it can also appear in multiple themes.

I plan to put the material together in both structure formats. The real question is how much should I restrict the theme-use?

What other recommendations do you have?

Organizing by theme is tricky. Finding the balance between too narrow and too broad of categories. I guess if you find that there are enough items for a very specific business type, such as the smithy, then you go that specific and otherwise have more generic themes. Shop, temple, residence, barracks, etc..

I prefer a transparent structure, so having some items double doesn't bother me. And discspace is cheap enough

Cecil - Maybe you should think about setting up some torrent feeds for downloading the archives. Spread the load out to the downloaders and speed the downloads up as well.
