Since the contest theme is to create something related to a stronghold or fortress of some sort, I decided to make wooden hoardings, which were erected over battlements so that castle defenders could drop rocks, burning oil, or other items on the attackers.

Here are some reference pics I used that better explain what a hoarding is.

I created the hoardings in a 10-foot segment, but they are designed to tile in order to create longer wall sections. Once a segment is stamped down on a DJ map, you can also erase half of it to create a 5 foot segment, if needed.

I created several styles for variety:
Brand new, brownish wood, reddish wood, two moldy/weathered versions, and finally a very aged version, which is probably best used for very old castles. Note that they are all shadowless. I figure that since they are placed high up on a wall, they shouldn't have the traditional DJ shadow. In my pieces, I also decided to depict the hoardings without a roof, so that you can show figures inside, if you want.

BTW, these were made from Devil Dan's wooden plank pieces, which I'm reposting here for convenience as they can be used as a roof for the hoardings. You may have to recolor them to match, using Photoshop or GIMP.

Great job. These hatches could be used to cover the holes as well.
