I started making new tiles for my GenCon Legions of Steel game this year. They're pretty much plain tiles with tunnels on them. They are posted in the same photobucket library from earlier in the thread.
We'll be running two games at GenCon using the 7x7 tiles. The first is a game using Star WarsStormtroopers versus Warhammer 40K Tyranids. Here's a picture showing what it will look like:

3610.jpg.
The scenario that needs the mine tiles has Star Wars
Stormtroopers suppressing rebels (AT-43 Red Blok
miniatures). Some of the rebel troops sit on large round bases (two squares by two squares, so I have made wider corridors on the mine tiles.
Also, rather than adding a bunch of sci-fi details to the tiles, I will likely make some counters and overlays that depict crates, equipment, hatches, holes, cave-ins,
rubbled areas, etc. That way you can modify the tiles to be sci-fi or fantasy as needed. I also to make some
control room tiles (the stormtrooper objectives for the game).
I'd be interested in any comments you guys have. I am
especially interested in tips on how to make the grid
stand out a little better. On the finished facility
tiles, they stand out well enough, but the thin yellow
lines seem to get lost on the Mine tiles' grey gravel floors.
Oh, lastly, the foamcore tiles from last year are holding up really well, with no warping. I am storing
them packed tightly in a standard office-type box with no extra room for them to warp, which seems to be working.
And here are some pictures of the tiles in use from last
year's GenCon:

Hope you like them,

Hi again SG,
Glad the foamcore survived!!!
Your link.
When posting a link in the Post Reply formatting, look for the little planet icon (it goes B I U HyperLink).
"Interested in tips on how to make the grid stand out a little better. On the finished facility tiles, they stand out well enough, but the thin yellow lines seem to get lost on the Mine tiles' grey gravel floors".
In DJ...
Options \ Grid \ Choose Color
...you might consider choosing a much brighter Yellow or even white. Or indeed, any colour you like. I'm not sure about the best colour with grey gravel in a mine, but perhaps try blues, tans, and so on until it suits your own tastes / atmosphere, from the distance your players are looking from. It should only take a few seconds to cycle through a lot of choices.
Also note in...
Options \ Grid
...you can change the Density. So a too bright colour can be toned down.
For grid colours some use 30% Density Black / Brown. Long ago forum folks suggested this, as sometimes yellow is a bit offputting for the atmospere.
Existing Star Wars maps often vary the grid colour depending on the basic floor colour. If you were using the Star Wars terrain gridline colours these can be added as "walls" snap-to along the grid very quickly over the final version.
Hi Aegean,
Your old hatches are the best hatches ever, so don't need updating. Of course if you want to...

Okay, I fixed the grid problem by changing the density to
100%, and reposted all the Mine map tiles here:
http://s701.photobucket.com/albums/ww14/sgibson260/Legion
s of Steel Tiles/7x7 Mine Sci-Fi Mine Modular Map Tiles/
I also added two pages of terrain overlays for piles of
rubble, and for caved-in areas.
I will probably add more of the finished installation
tiles next, since I need them for the game in three
weeks.
Any requests?
Regards,
Steve Gibson

Query to Administrators... Should this thread be moved to the new TILES forum?
The discussion above covers the mounting of tiles on foamcore (foamboard). He prints them 7.7" by 7.7",
then mounts them on black foamcore for use, but you can vary that size yourself.
The links are still operational (indeed being added to!!!)...
...7x7 SciFi Installation Tiles...
He also now has a
...7x7 Mineshaft tiles set...
