After reading the discussion in the other topic and since I need some city walls of my own I came up with something quick. If you guys like it I will expand it and cut it into different pieces (junctions, corners, etc.)

Could you add a bit more shadow to create height?

[DELETED IMAGES - Check further down]
I'm currently thinking on how to make the whole thing tileable in a way that it will still look good. I haven't done such thing before so... any advice?
Edit: Nevermind, I found a good way.

Hmmm, I dunno, I recently checked your website and it does look nice and I know you're a very talented artist but I'm not sure if I can do this professionally and I also dunno what the conditions are.
Also, is anyone else from this community a contributor to nine gods?

Yes, bogie, danygraph and cisticola are some of the artist on the site...missing you to have another talented one...there is no delay no specific project, you go at your rytm at you own pace, and you get 70% of all sales.
you have more questions contact me at supercaptain@ninegods.com
the site is not even finished but still it rolls up pretty good with descent sales..
we will add product descritpions and contact sheets for all our products....evey customer we had are happy with the product they got and some are asking for more....I even have a customer that bought all the maps I have on the site in one shot lolll dont need to name him...he knows loll...
( and there is only like 20% of all the maps we have on the site prensently....I am overload with new submission...I have like 5-6 project running at the same time jsut for myself...so If I consider that you are a mapper better than I am...imagine what you could do on our website.....so think about it...
you can even fix your own prices for your own products....
Have to send some money to bogie as he did couple of sales lately loll... so bogie send me your damn papypal account old guy!! loll ( kidding )
so let me know the sim...cause we are all in love with your maps...and the talent is not even a question....!

Guilty!
Though I lurk these forums occasionally for good maps and art (mostly maps since I consider myself an abysmal artist—search my user name if you don’t believe me ), I noticed this one and had to pipe up.
I’m the guy SC mentioned who just bought all of the maps at ninegods, including a few from Bogie and Dannygraph that are just superb! I recently commissioned a whopper of a project from SC, and so far the results are truly spectacular! I surface from my lurker depths only because I think your maps would be a great addition to ninegods. Sure, the site needs a little work—a better shopping cart, better descriptions, and contact sheets (plus maybe I’ll help SC with his English spelling! )—but it is already well on its way to being a great repository for excellent maps and art.
TheSim:
You are right up there with Supercaptain (an extremely close second, perhaps ), IMHO, as far as mapping talent goes. I play a VT (virtual tabletop) D&D game, and yesterday we used Theran’s Rest for the entire encounter! All I have are cobbled-together pieces of it that I downloaded from these forums, but if I had a place where I could buy your whole maps (here I’m thinking ninegods), I would do so in a heartbeat. Just thought I’d let you know that there’s a market for what you do. And I, for one, would be a ready customer! (Or since it’s art, does that make me a patron?)
Retreating back to lurker-land now…
Jeremy

OK, here it is. A tileable citywall. There will be more versatile pieces soon (stairs up\down, junctions and probably a same set just with walls on both sides of the walkway). Stay tuned.

ENJOY!
And to those who are bitching... I beg you to show a bit of respect to the artists who contribute to this fine community since a lot of people have uploaded really great stuff without asking anything in return. Is it not fair if these very same artists do sell some of their works to reap at least a bit of that which they're sowing?
Think about it...

Nice work!
TheSim.... bitching aside, if some of your work is from my tiles (the base floor) or you took them from CGtextures direct - you need to Non com them as they can only be applied to 3D models.... due to CGtextures licence.....
nice stuff though

Copied from the license agreement:
Use of the Textures is only allowed under one or more of the following conditions:
- Private or commercial use
- Use in 2D computer graphics, movies and printed media
It is NOT permitted to:
- Sell or distribute any of these textures in an unmodified form, or where the derived product you are selling or distributing is a Texture or a collection of Textures.
Imo this means my city wall can be used in commercial maps since the textures I used are massively cut up and modified.

The other 3 directions will follow tomorrow, too sleepy now. This one should tile well with the other pieces. If there are any problems, let me know. I'm too tired to think straight.

If we simply rotate the above piece in DJ, will it not tile properly?

I like the flagstone texture you are using as a base. Do you have the flagstone as a standalone tile(s)?

Unfortunately no cause once again I made things more complicated than they should have been.
However, I figured that with the current tiling it will be easier to add the inner wall.

The stone texture is from cgtextures.com but I can't post it here cause it will violate their rules. You can just go there and download it though. cgtextures is my main source for detailed textures and if you modify them enough you can even use them in commercial maps.

I love this set, but have one question. When trying to use the Snap function (either to vertice or center) the items always overlap...
Do you just line them up manually, or is there a special 'snap-to-location' function that I just don't know about or have read about.
Sorry for sounding like a newbie!

Snap really only works well when the objects are in increments of 200 pixels otherwise they'll overlap as you've seen. In DJ, if you use the move item/selection tool(arrow with the cross in the toolbar), you can hold down CTRL and use the arrow keys to place items more precisely.

"TheSim, Sir!"
"Our enemy is attacking the west wall! They've killed three men and the walls have taken some damage. Their catapults are are becoming more accurate and it won't be long until they're able to breach the wall."
I just had to do it. These were looking a little too perfect. Here's a few to start.

Im using Photoshop and there I enable snap to layer to place them easily. I don't remember how it works in Dundjinni.

Well, I took a lot for free so I can as well share the things I create. Maybe some day I sell some stuff I make, who knows.

That's how most of us who occasionally sell stuff started
BTW a bit of work on the textures could save you 3 pieces of the 4 you make ... like the corners and t-splits.

The texture isn't the problem rly. The wall sizes are messed up, they all differ from each other by 1 pixel or so so just rotating won't do the trick and I was too lazy to remake all pieces.
Well, now I'm almost done anyway and I learned quite some stuff doing these. If I should ever do another modular set that knowledge should come in handy.

Stair connectors:
(updated: smoother transition)
Wall extensions:
(updated: fixed corner)
Ok, these connectors should work with the stairs I already posted. I'll show a short jpeg on how the stair connectors and wall extensions can be used with the stairs to close unwanted gaps:
Keep in mind to:
1. place a wall you want to connect the stairs to
2. place the stair connector over that wall
3. (optional) place the wall extension over the wall and connector to cover the gap
4. place the stairs on top
...to get the best possible results.

So, it's done for today.
Since this is the first modular thing I ever did... if you find any bugs or have any requests let me know. Maybe I will add dead ends and a walkway over city/castle gates... but not today. xD
Have fun.

Super Sweet Mr. Sim-Man!
Snag some of the Castle Guards from RPGMapShare and you're definitely in business!
Someone should do a piece with them! They have different colored guards so we could very well do a "Red vs. Blue" map piece. Anyone up to the challenge?

I think I'm done now... I can't look at this texture anymore.
If you want I can send you all the relevant files by e-mail cause imageshack has a really limited length of filenames.
If you take the files from this topic, make sure to check all files again cause I updated quite a few of the old ones.
And btw, thx for all the nice comments.

Great pieces DW
I just created an User Art-PAck from all the wall pieces and added the broken pieces as a bonus. They are not visible on the contactsheet though
Go here for the art-pack.

Congrats on getting your own artpack, TheSim.
Would it be OK if someday I package up all these pieces into a free artpack for my Battlegrounds virtual tabletop software? (as I recently did with IronDwarf's modular sewers?)
