Hello There!
This is my second attempt at a decent map. I don't usually post anything (and why ever would I when I can just download something here or buy a map from ninegods that is infinitely better!) But Supercaptain has been working on an inn for me and has inspired me to do a tavern of my own.
This is basically a seedy tavern near the docks. The fare is mostly soup and bread, and fights break out almost every night. There is even a "private" table for smuggling, bribery, and all manner of subterfuge.
Thanks to all of the brilliant artists here for use of their renderings and textures. I'm sure you'll see many of them in this map. I made this entirely with Dundjinni. The only post-processing was using PS to reduce the image size (which is the limit of my skill with Photoshop). Hope someone can use it!
** Edit:
The original (with reduced pixel size for easier veiwing):

And here's the link for the big version:

Looking pretty good Gabriel_Penn.My only suggestion is to put the window in the wall like the door is. You can use another wall that's pretty close to the same texture under the window so it doesn't look like it goes to the floor.
Here's a thread with some techniques

Nice My friend! this is looking good!
You did something I really love that makes a map comes out!
Not to put all things stright or in line is one of my secret!
Love how you did the bar..the window was one thing I would have mentioned but now you know so no need to talk about it!
Love the barrel idea trough the wall ..ingenius!
Will still ad more tables or decorative stuff to give it some mood, put some wood on the side of the fireplace, there seem to have too much space left.....I would have add some more things here and there...but at a final look , I like that map...it inspires a dark alley inn for thugs and thieves.
And please people don't start thinking I am hard on him cause He asked me via e-mail to comment and give tips about that map!
But I would say that it's hard to beleive itS only your second map!
You should have dust off your dundjinni program long before that!
The talent is there so let yourself go!
Thansk bros.....and please...do more !

Very nicely put together map with some interesting ideas!
Well done
It would be more useful if you could do a higher resolution version, of say 3 to 5 MB in size and post it at RPGMapshare.com, then link from here to it so we could get a better look at the details and better quality for printing. Thanks!

Thanks, all of you, for the generous tips! I’ve posted the modified version, along with a smaller version of the original so that you can note the changes. I’ve also taken Bogie’s advice and uploaded a larger version to RPGMapshare (links both here and above with the images).
Here’s what I did:
• I followed Dragonwolf’s link and checked out some different options with the windows. I tried using different wall textures of varying thicknesses, but always kept running into the problem of an odd and unrealistic look when using the “raised walls” setting. So… I used a floor instead. I picked a texture (light cave, I think) that looked like cheap masonry and painted a “windowsill” 6 inches thinner to maintain perspective. Then I cut some light and shadow overlays into 5-foot-wide strips to give the windowsills a “raised” effect. Overall, I’m happy with the results.
• I fixed the ladder, which was previously under the border posts of the loft. Now it is on top like I intended.
• I followed SC’s advice and added some split wood for the fire (which was really hard to find!) I also added a table to the large open floor space.
• I went crazy with light and shadow layers. I now have infinite respect for all of you mapping gods and the care and talent that goes into your well-shadowed maps. That was a freaking load of work with all the layering and angles and perspective involved. My favorite little trick was with the table behind the curtain—getting the shadow to look like it was coming out from under the table, while still being completely unaffected by the light from atop the table was no mean feat!
Seeing the quality of talent that Supercaptain, TheSim, Bogie, Cisti, and many others put out there (I’ve only named the ones I’m most familiar with ), I find myself inspired to work harder!
Thanks for all the tips and inspiration!
Highest Regards,
Gabriel

Well major improvements...
I will give you a trick for shadow....all done in photoshop and easy even for a begginer!
Create a new layer on top of your final image.
Paint that layer all black.
Then reduce the transparency to between 60-75 depending on the style you want to have.
Then you selct the circle tool and select the feather at 35.
put the circle aroung the lit place ( like torches and fireplace...then you hit delete as many time as you want....
should give you a fast and good result of lighting..
well I do lot more things when playing with shadows but still this is just an easy part and gives very good result!
Try it and you should come with a result like this in no time...( 20 min at most )
SC
here is a very fast attempt Jeremy!
