Hi All,
I've got a dream...
I'm considering running a 4e version of the old Castle Amber D&D scenario at a major UK gaming convention later this year and I was wondering if you would be up for a challenge :)
I'd love to be able to put a full scale (i.e. 1 square = 5 feet = 1 scale inch) full colour map of each part of the castle down for the players to play on over the course of a weekend. If I could do this, it would probably be the signature event for 4E at the convention.
The castle is huge and would probably need to be split into 4 maps, the biggest of which works out as 80x80 1 inch squares. On the postive side, it is relatively simple from a layout point of view, but conversely, each section would probably need to be livened up with some appropriate printed decor on the map.
So.. there are two parts to my challenge to the forum:
1. Would any of you fair folk be interest in helping to create complete sections of this monster map in DJ?
2. Do any of you know someone in the UK that could print something that is 80"x80" in full colour on a surface that is suitable for miniature play?
Big J

Welcome aboard BigJ
Wow, a 80x80 squares castle ... I assume you want some space around it as well to add some green, road, trees, etc?
That means the total map should be drawn on 9 full DJ maps (3x3). A single full map is 32x40.
If the castle layout is simple, such a large map is easy enough, but it's the details that can kill the mapper
Hope you can find a mapper with the time and the actual layout of Castle Amber

It's actually bigger - it is made up of 4 sections, just one of which is 80 x 80 squares.... The others are 60 x 60 and 60 x 40 (2 of)
On the plus side, it's just the castle - no need for roads etc and the original map is available on the web.
I'll keep everything crossed in hope.

Here you go

There are some previous efforts in campaign cartographer, but I think that DJ makes it possible to create much more visually stimulating layouts:
