Hey folks....I have an upcoming need to build a small village that resides in a rocky gorge that has a tendency to flood when heavy rains hit....
The amazing artists here never cease to amaze with what they can come up with so I figured I would see if anyone could come up with something, or maybe someone can come up with an idea to convert current building art out there into something that looks like it might be supported by stilts...
Any thoughts?
Thanks!

Somebody maybe able to produce something that's semi ISO, but other than that I have know idea how it may be done from top down.
Sorry - I know this reply is about as much use as a chocolate tea pot!

Since house stilts couldn't possibly be seen in a top-down view, this effect is probably best achieved by placing the house on a slope/cliff face and making creative use of shadows to denote the elevation.

Yeah, I figured the perspective would be an issue....I thought possibly that these houses/buildings would have some sort of long, steep wooden stairs to get to the front door possibly....This might give the impression of heighth...along with the shadows....
Checking all my stairs, none seem to work LOL Will have to see if I can find something that might fit the bill.
Thanks for the suggestions!

Try using stairs that don't haved much gradation from top to bottom and combining duplicates to make a longer stairway, then add long shadows. That should give you the appearance you want while retaining a top-down style rather than going isometric.

You could also just use some of the slanted ladders like those found here

And you could add "faked shadows" from the stilts to the map ground..

If you add a version of your map with some water in it, you could add reflections of the stilts. That way you can show they are there. Even when the gorge is dry you could show the water version to give your players an idea of how it looks.
Of course you can always draw a side-view as well

Hi LordValerius,
Perhaps the use of piers:
The pier sets are "see through" giving extra depth. You could also use existing rope bridges to join them.
The watery bit should have shorter shadows due to the change in water depth but I only thought of that after exporting...
