Post medieval but still some astonishing devices such as this dredging system to keep that harbour that you're mapping nice and clear. Or raise that sunken treasure ship.

A site with about 60 or so free home brewed and very varied RPG rulesets. Some junk, but some which may provide some ideas, perhaps...
