Hi all! I've had the program for a while and have made a TON of maps for my games... none to your standards now that I've gone thru a lot of the threads, but as a DM of 2 campaigns... making my map details as sweet as yours is real hard to do.

This moves me to my plea. I am a regular GM at Origins each year and this year I was thinking of running Battletech. My problem is that I sold all of my stuff YEARS ago, but that isn't a problem. I have a way around that. I am going to project the battle up on the wall so that the guys don't have to worry about stretching across the table... knocking over other minis or terrain... and measuring/ determining LOS. Obviously, making the map isn't the problem. The problem that I have are the overhead shots of the mechs. I found the few that were in a few threads and came to the conclusion that if I am going to get any type of quality that I need to come to those who make this look easy.

If you could help me out, I would be in your debt. Thanks for listening to me grovel.

Welcome aboard kinkomaster

Have you looked on the RPGMapShare site? I would not be surprised if there are more top-down mechs on there

BTW what software will you be using to show the map and move around the tokens?

Thanks, Kepli.

I went to the site (thank you for that!!) and did a search for both Battlemech and just plain ol' mech and got nothing. I would have scrounged around looking, but I would have got trapped there gawking at all the things that I want for other things than what I'm after. Plus, it would have taken me FOREVER to reply to you.

As for the software that I'd end up using, I could go in a couple directions. My buddy is working with Tilesystem, and he has already put together and un-godly Space Hulk package!!    I'm not sure what the work would entail on that. I also have OpenRPG, Screenmonkey, or Battleground that I could drop a static map onto and work with. I know that Tilesystem really isn't a gaming platform, but if set up correctly, the tiles can be "modified" during gameplay. For example... you could set them on fire, fill them with smoke, or maybe crater them up.

I have until the end of June to fiddle around and see which works best. Oh... happen to know any other sites that might have mechs... by chance?

Sorry... their search must not work very well. I was trolling around... drooling and low and behold... mechs!! How many? I'm not sure yet, but I wanted to let you know that you were right. :)

Please post a screenshot or three when you get around to running that Mech
battle.

Not a problem... I'd love to. Gaming screens I can do... creative graphics... that is something else. :)
