On Dec 31 my oldest daughter Samantha (21) was admitted to hospital
because her back pain had become so bad that she could not lay still for an
MRI long enough to see what the trouble was. She was sedated and the MRI
done. A tumor was discovered on her spine, which was later identified as
Ewing's Sarcoma (curse you Dallas). Her first round of chemo went well, with
the next, a much longer one, scheduled for the first week of Feb. Since I
have been mostly absent around here for a couple of years anyway, I doubt
this will impact my presence too much, but any prayers or positive vibes the
DJ community could send our way would be greatly appreciated. Sam is now
living with us and her spirits are high. She has not lost her hair yet, but the
nausea and vomiting has begun.

It's hard to imagine worse news for a parent.

Thanks Heruca. Yes, this is the second worst news a parent can get. At least
we caught it early and it is treatable and a has a better than even cure rate.

I felt numb when my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer so I can't even begin to know how you feel when its your own child that has cancer.
All our thoughts and prayers will be with you, your daughter and your family.
Frequent updates would be good - and feel free to just chat or post anything that's on your mind - we'll always be here to listen.

I can't even imagine how that feels. Got two teenagers myself. I really hope
things will go well with her.
