In MS-Windows 7
Turning off UAC User Acces Control
Use the following procedure to disable UAC.
To perform the following procedure, you must be able to log on with or provide the credentials of a member of the local Administrators group.
Important
Turning off UAC reduces the security of your computer and may expose you to increased risk from malicious software. We do not recommend leaving UAC disabled.
To turn off UAC
1.Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
2.In Control Panel, click User Accounts.
3.In the User Accounts window, click User Accounts.
4.In the User Accounts tasks window, click Turn User Account Control on or off.
5.If UAC is currently configured in Admin Approval Mode, the User Account Control message appears. Click Continue.
6.Clear the Use User Account Control (UAC) to help protect your computer check box, and then click OK.
7.Click Restart Now to apply the change right away, or click Restart Later and close the User Accounts tasks window.

How come there are so many installation problems and no single point explaining how to fix things.
I've waded through 44 pages of issues now and nothing has worked.
Who wrote this POS software and how do I get my money back?!?!?

Hi Aracon,
sorry to hear you have installation problems. It would have helped more if you just told here what the problem is. (by telling us the errors etc.)
Most installation problems are a direct result of not knowing how things work. Like the most people have problems with using Adminsitative rights the right way.
however, this will not help you in using your software.
1. make sure java is installed correctly and working as it should. (test it on http://www.java.com/en/download/installed.jsp)
2. i guess you have windows 7 (?) and you want to install the software. (yes i know you dont want it anymore) but i am still going to tell you.
make sure you have turned off the UAC (see above)
then drop the 1.07 version (full install) on you desktop. and doubleclick it. (maybe turning off the antivirus will ensure proper installation.)
3. if it doesn't start it should give an error. tell us the error instead of whining about the software and we may be able to help you.
I guess for every found problem there are at least 100 users happy with the product.
I can't tell you if it is possible to get a refund or something like that, i can only help you with your technical issues.

Better solution w/o disabling UAC:
based off of:
http://ask.metafilter.com/122084/Installing-from-jar-file#17 46084
1. Right click "Command prompt" in the start menu (just search for it) and select "Run as administrator", agree to the prompt asking you whether you really want to do this
2. Change to the directory where the file installjalmus.jar is located on the command prompt (e.g. type "cd \users\myusername\desktop" + Enter, if the file is located on the desktop and your username is "myusername")
3. Type Start "Inst" "Castle-Temple-Village Art Pack.jar" + Enter
The quotes are important since the file has spaces in it. the first quoted parameter is the "name" of the new window.
