I need a very large cover-suitable image of a gas giant; I'm trying to make a map that takes place in close orbit of the gas giant, like, within it's rings.

Basically, the idea is for maps where there's a gigantic planet hanging in the background as starfighters and larger vessels slug it out in low orbit, potentially with ion cannon support fire from the surface heaving up to knock out capital ships.

I mean, you can just use a medium-sized planet in the middle of the map, but that makes the scale of the fight look more like it's interplanetary rather than orbital. My idea is for planets sized such that they can take up about 1/4 to 1/2 of the map, or even more. How does Dundjinni work with images that large? Does it choke and sneeze its brains out?

Loading images that large does take significant processing power. Try loading the huge tree from the Wild pack to get an idea of how long it takes to load something that only takes up roughly 45ft of space.

However, you could save the gas giant as a jpeg, using a black background, and that would take less time because of the smaller file size.

Right now, I have got a relatively decent gas giant set in both jpg and png, since I just found an online convertor to convert them to jpg.

The question then becomes, how can I build a background-less Dundjinnni map and copy-pasta the output onto the jpg? I don't have photoshop or the gimp... I suppose it could it be done in MSPaint... I'll give that a go, see how bad it turns out.

Or if you can't do it with the programs you have, Email the 2 jpgs to one of us that has photoshop or gimp and we could do it for you.

My email is in my profile.

You're a hero, Bogie. I've mailed you the one I had. Wish there was an easier way to merge images. :(

I recommend you pick up GIMP or Paint.Net (both free) if you can.
