I haven't posted in a while. Been going to school and haven't been doing much RPG playing. Lost all my mapping stuff recently, so once again I'm dloading like a fiend and inspired to do some mapping.

Hadn't seen a fire beetle in a while and for some reason (I think it was the huge bunch of beetles Kepli did a while back) I decided to make a fire beetle.

This is based loosely on the Pathfinder version of the critter. I used the DOTW scarab beetle from forever ago and some of Digger's spell effects.

The way I see it, the fire is leaking out from the beetle's carapace and it's mandibular region.

Anyway... Here's a JPG thumb. And a link to the PNG at RPG Mapshare.

Here's another version, with fire effects that are a little more subtle.

Not really sure which one I like more.

Fire Beetle 2

Very nice, both of them. I kinda thought a fire beetle would have fire on the rear end like a stink beetle. Shoot out the chemicals at enemy and it stinks up the place or in this case ignites on contact with air. Shrug. :)
