I've rendered a bunch of sci-fi floors, here are a few samples:

Acid For Blood?
Making a mod of Aegeans thread here we get,
Then, trying to replicate Aegeans burn marks...
...using Tottes grate at the top of the thread..
...but as DJ floor tiles at the end can't have a real
hole in them so...
...so the two final floors mods are:
 
...which of course is a long way of asking the question on "how best to do holes"?
