It took two weeks after I released my Country Houses for Vue before I
found it through google on a pirate site. But the worst is not being on a
pirate site, but on a pirate site where the uploader earns money for
everyone downloading, $35/1000 downloads, and that's because to
download you have to click through gazillions of banner ads and wait or
you pay to download fast.
I've tried to get it removed. It were on two sites (same uploader) and one
took it down almost instantly when I mailed them, but the other refuses
as they want written letters proving your ownership sent to them by a
lawfirm delivered with DHL and printed on your official company letter
with documents proving your right of ownership.
Just had rant somewhere, but I'm working on a devilish plan to nail that
person. He just failed to know that he's messing with a 30+ years
experienced DM who knows every damn trick in the book, and a few more
plus that I am pissed off. I think he will soon wish he gone pissing of a
dragon or something,

That sucks. And it's ridiculous that they are making YOU jump through
hoops to prove ownership.
Perhaps contacting the ISP hosting the pirate site could help? Get the ISP to
threaten to shut them down if they don't remove your content?

Set of bastages - you have to spend money to stop them ripping you off - is the company in the states? then sue them

Ah, I didn't know they were in Hong Kong. But had they been in the States, it
might have helped to contact the ISP.
Too bad Vue (et al) doesn't offer copy-protection for third-party content. I'm
guessing after this experience, you're not likely to release more content for
Vue, so they miss out.

Good luck Totte, although I'm against it until the bill
gets written with more clear agenda you may be interested
in contacting your senator to check on the Protect IP Act.
Last I checked it had made it through the judiciary
committee, not sure when it will go through, or if it will
at this point, but it might be worth checking into whether
parts of the bill are active yet.

Even though those lovely, sharing, ever-giving oh-so-cool-pirate download sites kindly give folks fifteen types of happy little viruses with every download, I wouldn't use them, as it puts off the guys actually creating new stuff.
