Follow these simple steps to get it running on 10.7 Lion.

(a) make a copy of your Dindjinni.app (Application)
(b) Rightclick on your copy and do Show Packet Content...
(c) Navigate with finder into Contents/MacOS
(d) Download the new Intelbased JavaStubIntel from Sourceforge.net
(e) remove the JavaApplicationStub from MacOS
(f) movethe downloaded JavaApplicationStub.zip there
(g) doubleclick the JavaApplicationStub.zip to unpack.
(h) remove the JavaApplicationStub.zip
(i) close the Contents directory
(j) make a second copy of the Dundjinni, app copy you just edited (To trigger finder to realize there is intel code here now
(k) remove the first copy you had
(l) Rename Dundjinni.app -> Dundjinni-old.app
(m) Rename Dundjinni.app (copy 2) to Dundjinni.app

MAKE MAPS!!

This is great Totte, even if I don't understand much of it. Thanks for finding a solution!

I assume I don't understand much because I don't use Mac. Some of the directions seem kinda technical. Will someone who does use Mac be able to follow them if they are not very computer savvy?

I do hope so as I have no clue how to write it simpler ;-)
It is a "difficult", like exchange a liver or something.

totte,

I'm having a bit of trouble getting Dundjinni running on Lion. I've followed
your steps carefully several times and Dundjinni hangs when I try to start it
& I have to force quit it to get it out of the dock.

When I click the link to sourceforge.net the download doesn't show as a ZIP
file. It displays as a text file that opens the terminal app when I double click
it for step (g) above.

I left the JavaApplicationStub in the MacOS folder in the Dundjinni package
and made a copy of that as instructed and followed the rest of the steps.

When I renamed the new Dundjinni app the icon changed to the blocked
icon (circle w/ slash) & Get Info says its a PowerPC app. I changed the name
to Dundjinni New & the icon is unblocked & Get Info say it's a Universal app.
But as a said above the App hangs and I have to force quit.

Any suggestions?

Hardeen

That's strange.
Maybe you need to change the memory settings if you haven't done that.

totte,

Thanx for the reply but changing memory didn't help.

I have found a fix however:

1. Open Finder, and browse to:
/System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Resources/MacOS/

2. Copy the file "JavaApplicationStub" to the clipboard (command+C)

3. Now browse to the folder that contains the Java application in question.

4. Right-click the Dundjinni application, and select "Show Package
Contents" to view the actual app files in the OS X app bundle.

5. Open the "Contents" subfolder, and then the "MacOS" folder.

6. Paste the "JavaApplicationStub" file from the keyboard to here, and accept
the overwrite prompt. You may need to enter your password when
prompted as necessary.

7. You're done!

(3 thru 7 are just restating your original instructions.)

This is from a website explaining how to upgrade PowerPC Java apps for use
on Snow Leopard as Intel Java app instead of using Rosetta. I works for Lion
as well as I've found.

I suspect the JavaApplicationStub that downloads from SourceForge is being
corrupted when I download it or when it is de-compressed since I never saw
the original ZIP.

Hope this helps anyone else that has the same problem I did.

Hardeen

(P.S., This also allowed me to change the app name back to just "Dundjinni"
with no problems.

Good findings!

Aha, I always have "Expand safe files" off, its that problem that Safari expand
the zip.

/ Totte
