Hey, anybody know of a decent modern courtroom map? I'm about to be doing a scenario that will spend a fair bit of time on the subject of lawyering, and I haven't been able to find a suitable substitute and I'm not really good enough with the mapping software to make it look decent! Any ideas? Has anybody done anything like this or know of something that could be re-purposed with adding on some objects? JPG would be sufficient as I use a virtual tabletop, but something in Dundjinni format as a base to modify would be okay, too. Thanks!

Hi Triad4evr,
These are just two ideas which might give an idea of
scale. Neither is complete, just starter ideas...
First using the Dungeon Tiles to get an English County type courthouse, in old stone buildings. This example
still has the olde worlde insides, which would of course be replaced.
Second, a more modern one as seen by Michael Jacksons Doctor, with lots of space for overpaid lawyers to ponce
around in. Would need a better choice of floors / seats (just used some I had), plus security cameras, multimedia
projectors, lawyers papers on the tables, US and / or State flags, or whatever, and of course lights and shadows.
The space behind the accused seats is for burly police officers to stand in.
More ideas...
Sample Australian court plan...
Sample US court plans (scroll down)...
Whole building (cells, jury room, judges room) or just the courtroom?
More than one floor?
Do you need windows for the crook to leap from?
Is it USA TV courtroom (which everyone knows) or some other country?

Ah yes, the second one is more what I am thinking- and yes, I was leaning towards a US TV style courthouse, minimally just the courtroom, though a couple adjoining rooms (Jury room, judge's chambers, outside lobby) might be of use. One of the PCs is going on trial for killing some civilians while trying to stop the bad guys in a recent superhero campaign, so that's what I'm needing the map for! There will likely be some shenanigans involving breaking in or out no doubt.
I'm impressed with how fast you guys can do these things- I can piddle around with Dundjinni all night and not be even remotely halfway there... oh since you mentioned scale, on the VT, we use 1 inch hexes = 5 feet. Anyway, thanks for these great examples!

Courthouse.
Clockwise from the top: Judges Room, back door, Witness Room, 2 Lawyers rooms, Main Entry and Reception, Criminals entry and cells.
Didn't do cameras (with my Modern Art Pack not working since moving PC's). Dundjinni does do hex grids, but the "snap to grid" only works on the squares. No US flag - as you use VTT assumed you'd want it as a moveable object to spear folks with.

Wow, no that's just fine- I can make this work! Thanks a lot! Cameras I can always add on my VTT, since that also has the advantage of them being destructible, then!

Experimental variant using hexes (it's just a tick to change square to hex). Doesn't work for me due to the
possible arguements over half hexes, need more careful placing of walls / objects, clashes with the grid from
the marble, etc. Hexes would be, perhaps, more use for outdoor scenes(?)
Exported from DJ as a .jpeg. It is possible but longer,
to export as .bmp, but potentially get more detail.
Assumed it wouldn't be needed in VTT(?)

That still looks pretty good.
Never understood the fascination with hexes either. I don't
like the drunken stagger to move in a straight line.

Ya hexes are kinda a pain when indoors but squares have the problem of cheating by going all diagonals. And every space of movement matters in the game I'm playing- getting to take an extra one is a big issue. Actually if you don't mind too much, could you do me one with no borders marked at all? My VTT can supply that as I need and no grid at all would actually be the best of all worlds!

Hola,
Fantastic work PB!
I LOVE the hexes....I always thought the site needed some more hex-based maps.
Once more your timing is impecable.
The BGC game I am working on just lost an optional section of the adventure because I had no courtroom to try the Hard Suited players in who were unfortunate to be caught during play.
Thank you very much, sir.
