The email went to the webmaster address, the only one I found on this site. Hope that was correct.

Ok I am running windows 7 with java 6 update 17. I've tried everything from running the previous versions of java that you've listed to all the versions.

I installed the version currently downloadable from the site, Version 1.0.7. I've tried installing it in a file not in the Programs Files folder. First I tried it in a separate folder on my desktop, then in the public/games folder.

I've even tried re-downloading the file from the website.

Despite all this, it always tells me that the program was installed incorrectly. Please help.

Did you disable UAC (User Account Control) prior to installing DJ?

Wow... and I actually remembering wondering why I didn't get a system message prompting me for permission to install the program. It just didn't seem like that important an issue since I trust the program. lol

Worked perfectly, thanks a ton.

Dundjinni has decided it now wants to hang on me.

It hands on "Creating Item Selection Dialog."

It throws an error box:

---
Program Startup Error
An error occured during startup.
You may have an improper installation, or invalid or missing map resources.
The program will be terminated.

Error occured at:
Common components loading check.
Check Map directory and ~common folder, also check Genre folders.
---

Obviously this is killing me. I was getting new artwork, I downloaded and ran Hammerfall Art Pac.jar, User Collection 1 Art Pack.jar, and User Collection 2 Art Pack.jar.

I think the problem has to have been introduced by one of those three, since the other art I got was the tried and true "large zip file, sort it all into subfolders" and "rightclick, save as" methods.

I need to figure out how to fix this, and fast. I'm running Windows XP, SP3.

I found the problem, after invoking several vulgarities describing the tale of Oedipus and threatening to do horrible things to Dundjinni in front of it's children.

I'd downloaded the Arctic set, and it was a very huge resource, so I was trying to organize it into it's own top-level genre pack.

Dundjinni apparently does not like it when you assign your own top-level genre packs. I didn't realize this, as I'd previously reated the Sci-Fi Genre pack and it didn't choke. I guess the Genre packs have to be hard coded: I moved the Arctic stuff to Sci-Fi and nuked the Arctic folder; it worked perfectly.

As I mentioned in another thread, I am having an issue installing the JAR executable from an Art pack. The main app seems to be working (after a lot of mess) but the artpacks wont install due to a missing DLL.

Is there any installation documentation with this product that I have missed?

HELLO?

Is anyone out there responding to technical issuess?

I have emailed and posted and have received nothing.

Do I need to dispute my VISA charges to get someones attention?

This really shouldn't be this difficult to fix your installation issues or at least have a readme available with all of the known issues. I have waded through 40 pages and tried just about everything.

No Luck. Still Stuck.

If I didn't have to sit on hold for 45 more minutes with VISA to challenge the charges I would do that right now and wash my hands of this buggy product.

Ah, hello Aracon.
so... the app installed OK, only a artpack problem.

i got the updates working by
01. moving to the c:\program files\java\bin
(you will find java.exe in that folder.)
02. copy the update JAR files here (temporarely)
03. opening a command prompt as administrator (run as)
04. cd program files
[or program files (86) for windows 7 64 bit]
05. cd java <enter>
06. cd jre6 (or the version you have isntalled) <enter>
07. cd BIN <enter>
08. type: java -jar dundjinni_update_105.jar <enter>
read and follow instructions
09. repeat for dundjinni_update_106.jar
10. repeat for dundjinni_update_107.jar

i didn't copy the ICE_JNIRegistry.dll file to c:\windows or c:\windows\system32 (some sites tell you that it will fix the problem, but it doesn't)

I have it working with the method described.

oh and <enter> is a key not the text.. :-)
i think this will help for artpacks as well
I'll check it when i am back home... (3-4 hours from this message) i hope i can confirm that this will work exactly the same, so if it messes up your dundjinni... blame me... ;)

If it is a dll-issue, please try the dll posted on the Updates and Support page.

BTW the community (webmasters, moderators and members) are the ones helping people out. The company is way too small to have it's own helpdesk. But over the years we have seen that this community is really good at helping people out with issues with their PC, software, art making, etc.

Hope things get solved for you Aracon and you get to hang out here and get to know this community

Maybe you've already figured out how to use your computer though if not I have some hints that may be helpful. The shinny new security with vistas and windows 7 doesnt want programs auto-installing onto your computer. Yep thats right its your security settings messing things up.But thats ok, you can try the work arounds offered. You could also learn about microsoft's shinny new security and learn to disable it for your use or you could unpack the images and import them into the software by hand.

I hope one of those strategies works out for you and look forward to seeing your offerings of maps and objects in the future!

I recently had this issue and for me installing the software on another machine and then copying all the files that were NOT in the "Map" directory resolved this issue. I think this worked for me because basically I made the mistake of modifying/copying/renaming files in the "Map" directories while I had the Dundjinni program running. I've learned the hard way that this is a big no-no!

My guess is that the software keeps a temporary record inside the computer memory and when you log off it, if the files are changed then the records (install log probably) doesn't match and therefore causes an error.

So don't be stupid like me an modify files while running the software. Close it out, make all your file changes, etc. THEN reload Dundjinni. Also what I did to avoid this mistake is to do things like backup the "MAP" directory in a separate RAR file and also another RAR file that contains EVERYTHING but the "Map" archives. Doing this will save you from having to reinstall java, Dundjinni, and all your mapping packs over and over.
