Hi Folks, first map of a new campaign, 'The Journey Begins' (Demon's Wheel Setting)

Our young hero is on his way home. Many months he has been training, as a Paladin, with his mentor at the old Western Watchtower, and he is glad to be going home. However, a surprise awaits as he is confronted by a group of Orcs at the Azacanaster Bridge. There are no Orcs in these woods, how did they get passed the Great barrier.....?

Cool, seems like more of a beaver dam than a bridge, but great for an encounter with orcs.

Hi folks.....

Working on a small side trek to get the adventure going....well, nothing like putting the frighteners on the poor players.....The players peer into a hole after hearing low unearthly growls in the dark....Its OK, its an apparition.....?

so... you're not going to have them start off by fighting a
demogorgon? I like to start with a bit of a challenge! In
the campaign I'm currently running I had a pr of lvl 13
ogres come through the town gate to retrieve an artifact...
I figured they could either run and cower or be swatted
aside and dazed.

Also is this hold supposed to be near the bridge?

Like a Challenge! But, no, I would'nt deliberately kill those players off!!!

Sun House Map

Well our young Paladin has travelled through the Great Northern Wood, joining forces with an Elf Ranger & both of them rescueing a Dwarf Fighter who was just about to be spit-roasted by a small war band of Orcs...They arrive at Sun House, where the fourth member of the group is. However, this is a trap....

There is a burning pyre of corpses as they come to the house & everything is oddly quiet....as soon as the PCs enter the house, burning and half burnt Skeletons arise from the ashes....there's alot of them. To help the PCs, the undead horde will not pass the great seal in the back of the house, although this is of little comfort as there is no where to run as the back of the house overhangs a cliff into The chasm. Its worth checking out the alchemists room though......

Howdy...

...So having survived the nightmare of Sun House, the PCs decide to continue their journey to the Tower of the Sun. However, on rounding a hill a bright flash some 20 miles distant catches their gaze followed by an almighty explosion that scorches the parched land in either direction.....The tower is gone, & a portion of land it stood on has fallen into the Chasm.

The elf ranger spots a dark figure on a black horse at the edge of the destruction observing the devestation..it turns & rides off (This is a Death Knight & the PCs will meet this character again)....

PC meeting, 'what now?'....They decide to head to the garrison at the Eastern Gateway, but on arriving they find it guarded by something else & the Great Barrier has been activated....No creature can pass the dark mist it is a savage & ancient magic & besides all that is beyond is the wastelands of the Howlings......

Well having kicked some Direguard arse & his pet skeleton wolf & a few orcs, the PCs find a dieing guard in the bottom of one of the towers. He tells the party that they were taken by surprise as they did not come through the eastern gateway but from the woods. He hands the PCs an ornate key & with his last breath whispers 'Azacanaster's Folly.....'

'Great!' says the paladin, who grew up in this land, a childs story of a ancient ruin of great power, that never stays in one place long enough for anyone to find it! Only one thing to do, head along the Great barrier road back to the Western Watchtower, maybe the paladins old mentor can shed some light on what's going on.....

Thanks ae, it has taken alot of trial & error over many years....

Meanwhile, the PCs spot 2 skeleton archers high on the battlements. The ranger calls for caution, to late the paladin has already opted for a full frontal attack & kicks in the weak rear door....hacking their way through the Watchtower (skeletons, mimic & one hungry ghoul) they find the paladins former mentor dieing atop a tower. He gives the paladin some goodies, 'cool', & another ornate key. The 2 keys fit in a winch system & the PCs raise the gatedoor on the lower level. Outside they find it only leads to the cliff edge? but on searching they find a strange magical symbol on the ground.....this will teleport them to Azacanter's Folly, an ancient portal....but it is guarded by a thrall who waits in the shadows.......

On defeating the Thrall, they pass through the portal & the first part of the adventure ends....tot up experience points & a little bonus for completing the adventuer, 'well done everyone'......
