I was playing with shadows and textures and ended up making these wooden stairs.
There are several lengths in both 10' and 5' wide versions, all with and without a shadow.
The 2 largest ones are to large to post so they are both in this ZIP file.

Tonight I made some stone steps using a granite texture and a rough stone texture, both from cgTextures.

to both! I especially like the stone ones due to the up coming game I will be running that takes place in a stone tower. :)
Had a forget spell on it from 150 years before while empire was on expansion program. Celtic city noble family had artifact it didn't want taken from them. You could walk to the area it was in, discover it but when you walked more than 4' away, you'd forget about it. Spells going to ware off and the pooh pile is going to hit the fans. :D

Sounds cool DL! In case you need a large circular stone staircase for the inside of your tower I made this set.
