4 days ago I bought the Mac version of the software.
Apart the fact that I find it unbearable, unsostainable, and frankly, plain
unfair that I spend 55$ for a software, and not only it doesn't work, as is,
but I need to browse at a forum, to get assistance on how to make it work.
But it's not all: despite the spam issues this forum had a while back, my
several email to the support email, or the store email NEVER GOT
ANSWERED.
I had to email the mods, personally, to get this forum working (and only the
forum, immagine the software itself.
THIS IS BAD CUSTOMER CARE, really BAD, and I have already reported it to
all the sites and forums (RPG net, Booardgamegeek.com, and many other
sites and forums, to let them know to stay away from this software and
company.
So, prove me wrong: how do I get Dundjinni to work?
I followed this forum thread:
TID=13119&PN=1">http://www.dundjinni.com/forums/forum_posts. asp?
TID=13119&PN=1, step by step, but, after the installation (which I
finally made to go, after several tries), when I click on the Dunjinni icon
from the finder (just like the prompt after the installation is complete says),
the Dundjinni icon jumps up and down on my dock, and nothing happens,
and, when I click on it, it disappears.
Let me know what I need to do.

In order for anyone to be able to help you they will need to know if you bought the software from this website store or somewhere else. ( If you purchased it somewhere else, you may have received the wrong version. )
Which version do you have? v1.0.4 v1.0.5 v1.0.6 or v1.0.7 ?
Which Apple operating system do you have on your computer?
Did you purchase just the program or did you also purchase any artpacks?
Hopefully one of the members who uses Macs will see this and be able to help you.

I have a Mac but am not knowledgeble about it. I have my son fix things when they go wrong.
A side note mcesmy, patience is a virtue. Give the forum members time to help you. We have lives to live too and taking your impatience out by spreading bad vibes is not the way to do things. Wish I could help. Others here might if you ask nicely. Or do as suggested and ask for credit card to give your money back.

Frankly, you are completely correct about the company.
For all intents and purposes there is NO company and
hasn't been in a very long time. All that remains of a
once top-notch company with an excellent product is an
increasingly outdated product and this forum, which is
still one of the best resources for mapping on the web.
Your anger about the state of this company is justified,
but since no one from the company has been available for
years (literally), you're raging at empty space.
As much as I used to love DJ, I do have to say that I
generally warn people away from the product while
simultaneously directing them to the forums.

Ok, here are some more info about my purchase:
-I bought it from the Dundjinni site, direct download (i didn't even get the
email with the download link... )
-I downloaded v. 1.04, but, after it didn't work, I downloaded (and
installed) the patches for the mac version from this page:
http://www.dundjinni.com/info/updates.htm
I have the latest version of lion on my Mac
anything else you need to know?
Thanks in advance
P.S. @Mercutio: if only i'd seen your post earlier, I would have saved some
money...

Well in answer to mercutio, I use DJ in every map I do, I cannot find another programme that does what I want (without doing hours of work)....unfortunately, like many here, we do wonder about the future of DJ....

I don't quite follow ...
You bought the Mac version from the Store. That means you login to the Store and download DJ. There never is an email with a download link as far as I know.
You downloaded v1.0.4, while v1.0.7 is the newest version in the Store? How did that happen? Wasn't version v1.0.7 not on your Store page after you bought it?
Regrettably, due to the absence of the owner of Dundjinni Enterprises and the change of the hosting company a few years ago, we are no longer able to change anything on the site besides the Forum part. That means we are also unable to change messages on the home page for instance. We can only hope visitors read some of the forum first or hear about the company's issues from other people. Not long ago the owner showed up long enough to activate the Store again. Until that time I was able to help people out who bought the older DJ versions. I still can when they are unable to login to the Store or didn't buy DJ from the Store.

I would receive an email with a link to the download page... Never got
it.
Anyhow... Any tips on how to make this crap work?

Your main problem is that starting with version 1.0.4 then upgrading only works well on Win XP, and can occasionally work on Vista. I don't know anything about Lion, but I assume it's the same issue. You need the full 1.0.7 download. It should work with your original Registration Key, DON'T lose that. We have no way to replace it.
I'll see if Kepli can set up a dropbox download for you.

Yeah, I don't really mean to denigrate the product, so
don't read into it that way. I'm just saying the zero
development, support, or even contact from owners is not
good for the product itself. Because of those reasons
(and the increasingly wonky-but-necessary workarounds for
operating systems), I cannot recommend the product any
more. I mean, I do still use it occasionally (although
for the most part I just use GIMP), and it works for me,
but for the life of me I don't remember exactly what
quirks and changes I had to play with to get it into
working shape. I just remember that it took hours
(literally) of installing, rebooting, fixing, registry-
tweaking, uninstalling, reinstalling, rebooting, etc. If
I hadn't already owned the product, my time and money my
have been better spent elsewhere.
But the forums and the user-created art pieces and maps?
Can't beat them with a stick. Seriously, I can't talk up
the forums enough.
