Halloween is one of our favorite holidays - and what better way to decorate than with Dundjinni!
So we're holding a Halloween DJ contest. This one is a free for all - make a map, an adventure, even a website (like the one metajock discusses in this thread).
Use DJ art, user art, any art - other than that which infringes copyright, of course. (If you make your own art assets for the contest, please share it in the objects forum for everyone to enjoy - and so they can use your dja file.)
The winning entry (or entries, given the possible variety) will be featured in the Community Spotlight, of course - and we may even share the fun by posting their work in the forums of popular gamer sites (like ENworld).
And, in place of a cash prize, the winner(s) will be allowed to select what piece of art (within reason, of course) should be created for the next Download of the Week.
Contest closes at 12:01 a.m. Pacific Time, Thursday, October 28.

This seems like a win for everyone in the community - regardless of who wins the contest, everyone gets to enjoy a new piece of art.
I really want to enter this one - I hope I can get my act together and do it.

I hope the Mac version is out in time for me to submit a piece. I have a couple of ideas bouncing around in my head that I would like to try out.

Just gotta get the time to finish it. It's all mapped out in my mind, but by the time the kids are finished homework and in bed, I'm bushed.
Gonna have to scale it down...

Glad to hear people will be entering the Halloween contest! Anyone else planning to enter?
We'd love to see a broad variety of entries.
Unfortunately, dblade, we won't have a Mac version for release until late next week at best - perhaps too late for contest entries. But we'll continue to run them, so Mac users will definitely get the chance to show their stuff.

Okay, dumb question, I expect, but this is the first contest I've entered, so I be ignorant.
When I post my map, do I also include a zip file of the dja version? I know it will have to be zipped 'cause it's stupidly large.

Yes, maraich, include the dja zip too, unless it's too big to upload. I think there's a 1 mb limit.

Well I broadened it - maybe in the age range and skill level aspects. But it is broader now.
I too am hoping to see lots of maps and I will try my best to scrap up something more appropriate if I can catch a few hours somewhere.
We're up to 13 entries
Hoping that lucky number will be dispatched by some more maps/adventures/web sites etc.

The Halloween contest winner is Spoondoggy's Drow Temple!
Congrats to Spoondoggy - and all the entrants. There were lots of great entries so it was particularly hard to choose. Honorable mentions go to Alynnalizza, Gelew, and Micah's entries.
Spoondoggy, please get in touch with JT (webmaster@dundjinni.com) to discuss your choice for an upcoming DotW.
Happy Halloween to all!
