Since there was a fantastic set put out not long ago with an Atlantis theme, we need a few critters to go with it. Here's a DAZ sea turle, rendered in Poser. These are straight renders, straight out of the box, wiht only a little change to the second one's pose and shell...

I left these as "giant", for whatever reason you may want them for: merman mounts, strap a treasure chest to the back of them, etc...

How much can you morph the shell? Here's what I'm looking at--I don't use critters on my maps much (unless they're dead)--but the shell would be perfect for something to be laying around.

Make the fleshy parts invisible and you have something that you could drop around that would look very in-place.

OK, I figured out where the visible button was. Here's 5 different shells. The first 4 are standard size...

The last is for building the perfect beach get-away. Think of it as a "only one-owner beach condo". Just add a porch, a couple of chairs, a nice unbrella, and some Jimmy Buffet music... <grin>

Enjoy!

Last for the day: RELEASE THE KRACKEN!

Once again, all these are straight-out-of-the-box DAZ sea critters, rendered in Poser...

It's the shadowing. Already checked it. I do need to work on my lighting, but these are correct (this time...) <grin>

Some more sea turtles...without drop shadows for swimming under water, and with for above on the sand.

Excellent work! Very nice stuff.

Why am I suddenly unable to get the MST3K version of the Gamera song out of my head?

"Gamera is really neat! He's all full of turtle meat. We all love you Gameraaaaaa."

I was fortunate enough to visit the eco-park in Mexico called Xcaret during my visist last month. Since the location is also a sea turtle conservatory and research center, I saw some great sea turtles, from infancy through to absolutely mammoth adults. I snapped some good shots of several, but these two adolescents were the most striking and "object worthy." These guys are, in real life, about 3 feet long or so. While the big guys were much, much larger, they were also further away (in a natural stream vs. a pool like these littler ones) and blended in too well to get really clean shots. Anyway, hope you enjoy these objects at least half as much as I did seeing the real thing!

Note, they are really best for placement in water, as they were swimming during the shots (as evidence by the flipper placement).

Cleaned the edges up on both a bit...

Here's some shadows for placement on the seafloor, to get that sense of depth whilst swimming.

Nice! The shadows are a welcome extra and will add a lot of depth perception

I still look at these pics and think, "Man, how could that be something real and not a painted picture!" Got som ereally cute pics of the babies I'm going to try cleaning up, and a side shot of a nest (reconstruction, not a live one) that might work out, too.

Oh, and I thought I'd stick a link in here for Xcaret if any one wanted to visit. If you ever head toward Cancun, be sure to go to this place!

I think more the colors of cooked crabs than live ones but probably more what the eye "expects" to see...
