Just downloaded 1.04 and am installing for the first time. Everything seemed to install fine up till now. the time remaining shows as 0, the progress bars on the "installing" dialog box are full and it been "copying" Dundjinni\Help\d20srd.chm for half an hour now. What's wrong?

If this is a brand new installation (i.e. not a patch to 1.0.4 from 1.0.2) then it is very likely a Java-related problem. My first thought is that you have more than one version of Java on your system, which often causes problems. Check Add/Remove Programs from the Control Panel and uninstall all but the latest version. The second thought is that your version of Java might be old. I recommend upgrading to Java 1.4.2_05 if you have not already, which we have on our Updates and Support page.

Let us know how it goes.

Cleaning up my older java installs fixed the problem.

Thanks.

I had the same problem, and to be more specific on the fix I had to do the following:
1. Uninstall all the old versions of Java on the box.
2. Install the new version.
3. Reboot
4. Install Dundjinni
5. Experience Great Joy and Happiness!

-Thanks for the help!

Well I have this problem and I cannot get it to work using these steps. Here is what I did...

1) Uninstalled all revisions of java. Deleted the java folder completely.
2) Rebooted.
3) Installed Java 1.4.2_5.
4) Rebooted.
5) Installed Dundjinni. << Everything locks up at the d20srd.chm.

Any ideas? Should I try a different rev of Java?

Have you tried disabling your anti-virus software during the install? I've had AV software cause weird glitches during program installs.

I got it to work but this work around is not for the "faint of heart"...

1) Install Java 1.4.2_5.
2) Reboot.
3) Start the Dundjinni installer.
4) When it locks up wait 2 minutes then kill the javaw.exe process using Task Manager. Do NOT kill the install routine. After killing the java process the installer will sucessfully complete.
5) I started the app and everything appears to be fine. I will play around a bit to make sure...

Jeez, that would be the strangest workaround I have seen in ages
Hope it works, although it shouldn't happen in the first place

I am having this same issue. Where do we get the right version of Java?

Ok I fixed my problem. I had a bajillion versions of Java installed and uninstalled each and every one of them, must have taken like 30 minutes or so. Then I rebooted. Then I went to Sun's website and downloaded the latest Java 6 update 6, installed it. Then I installed Dundjinni and it seems to have worked.
