Hi All,

I was hopeful I could convince Jdale (or someone else) to produce some dead tree variants (without snow cover)?

Also after some Willow tree variants. All required for swampy / marsh lands.

Any offerings greatfully accepted! Thanks in advance.

Trees are hard. I'm not tall enough. :) Anyway, these days everything has snow on it. Maybe someone else has something suitable...?

I think I might have some material that will work. I'll try this weekend.

How are these? I've been lurking long enough and thought I'd better add some rather than just taking!

I needed some larger trees and one has a "test" shadow to see how it might look (to give height). But you might not like it.

Thanks these are cool! ...And welcome to the boards!

I do like the "shadow" tree but it can make placement a little more difficult. I think it will be useful in maps where the tree is a focal point though.

At the risk of appearing greedy can I please ask for a further enhancement? Would it be possible to add some denser foliage to the willow variants? I'd really like a couple of willows capable of covering or partially covering objects beneath them.

It turns out that the tiny little branches don't come out too great. But try this, hopefully it will do.

Oh, much better than my attempt. Thanks surfbored.

Is there any chance of getting larger trees? I'll host them.

In any case, here's my version of a sleeping tree (original size is at 1400 pixels, but the limbs appear too straight--actually improves as it's made smaller). This one is about 17.5 feet across (DJ scale)

OK, now for a different sort of tree. I'm saving this for when I start doing my swamp maps--still about a month away as I make the artwork I require.

I intend for more of a mangrove approach. I'm going to produce the lower portion of the tree on the map itself, but have the leaves and branchs semi-transparent (like the wonderful chandelier seen in this forum a while ago). I haven't done the tops yet, but this is what the root portion will look like.

Surfbored, do you want to help with the tops?

Very nice Cecil. Cool concept with the split tree. Can't wait to see the results!

Glad I could contribute.

Cecil, I'd be happy to make some bigger trees. Of what sort would you like? How can I help with the tops?

Also Cecil, I like the "thorny" look of the one tree. String a few together and an evil forest is born!

Here's a tree (in the ZIP) that's about 20'x20'. The thumb below is a smaller version for those that need something to look at!

I went ahead and made one more dead tree. This one should be big enough for most people (30x30)!

Of course I had to zip it, but the smaller version below will give you an idea of what it looks like. So don't just save the picture below, also download the ZIP if you want the BIG tree.

Hope you like it!

Hmmm, what about a white tree like the one in Lord of the Rings ...

You didn't specify which version , so I'll start out with the "withered" one.

Absolutely gorgeous Surfbored.

Surfbored - thanks for this stuff. It will come in very useful!

If you're still in the mood then I'd love to see some trees with extensive exposed root systems (or maybe modular roots that can be placed under existing trees) and some sort of thorny vine/plant that can wall an area off like razer wire.

Very nice indeed

Anyone know of any mossy gunky stuff that we can drape over some of the branches - I tried some of the grassy textures but they don't look swampy enough?

Working on it. I have some moss, but it is usually very dependant on the object you are draping it over (ie, the moss I drape over the ruins does not work when I put it on a tree limb.

Also working on vines for my swamp project.
