Awesome! Can you do one that has a stone platform around it so we can put it in a fantasy map?

Actually the DUD is the DHD, the Dial Home Device.

I think the Stargate would look a teensy bit better if there was a mild isometric perspective to it instead of directly overhead. This way you could just see the closed, metal iris, or perhaps even a version with the watery appearance of the wormhole. Also, it would be nice to have the stargate as a separate graphic from the ramp; that ramp only appears at SGC, but the gates themselves can appear in any setting.

I tried the render with a regular camera, but the problem was the camera positioning. At least in Maya, I was having trouble getting it exactly the way I wanted it, that's why I did an orthographical render... I'll see if I can do it, and I'll try to do separate renders of the gate and the ramp.

Try this stargate -- just the gate, with the water effect for the actual portal and some glow on the red lights, and some perspective... I think you'll like this one a lot...

Wow, these are great!
However, the Stargates on most worlds are on a
stone platform, with stone steps coming down.
Could you do one like that?

The edges of the Stargate seem to be fading away when I rotate the image. Strange...
