I just updated to 10.3.9, and DJ will not run.
Is it just me?
I tried reinstalling DJ- no effect.
Any ideas?

All of the Java-based stuff on all three of my Macs are acting up. I sent e-
mail to Apple about it. I think it's their problem at this point.

Okay,
The manual reinstall of Java (a.k.a. the hard way) detailed on the Macfixit
web page worked.
http://www.macfixit.com/
In short: unpackage the Java 1.4.2 Update 2 installer, and manually drag
and drop the files in their respective locations, and then restart.
Pain in the rump, but works.

Apple has resolved the problems with a Java update, and a Security
update.

Ditto here. I removed all of the self-created folders within the map
directory and it ran for a bit, then decided that wasn't proper either and
stopped loading.
program complains of an improper installation or map resources missing.

I believe that errors like that sometimes occur when one or more of the art folders does not contain a ~properties file. Did Dundjinni work for you at any time following the initial installation? Did you manually add, remove or move any of the files? If you were running the demo, did you uninstall it prior to installing the ufll version?
Regardless, you're best off uninstalling Dundjinni completely (removing all files). If you have any custom User Art, you can move it to the Desktop or whatever, and add it back into the program a bit at a time after you reinstall the program.
Also, it seems that either your caps lock key is stuck, or that you've timewarped back into the mid 80's, and are somehow using CompuServe in order to post here. You may want to check into fixing that as well.

Are you having problems on both computers, or just the 10.3.9 one?

I am having the exact same problem. I just posted a plea for help as a new
topic. Guess I should have looked here before I posted. I am fairly computer
illiterate (though I learn fast and follow directions well). If anyone would
mind making a step by step guide on how to fix this I'd be their friend
forever. Thanks.

is any of this related to the program being completely unusable by macs running leopard? could this problem have been posted on sys req page so that I wouldn't have had to waste time and forty bucks downloading this crap and then getting told by Melinda that I had to hunt for an answer myself here in this forum? I want this refunded. that way I can look for a program that might actually work.

spheremaster, Dundjinni runs as well on Leopard as it does on 10.4, if not better.
You're welcome to contact store@dundjinni.com to request a refund. However, from your other post on the forums here, it sounds like you're having problems even downloading Dundjinni in the first place. It's probably a little premature to start assuming that the program doesn't run before you've managed to download it.
I'll take a look at the Mac download files in the online store tonight and see if I can spot anything weird going on there, and will do a download of the file myself. I'm using Firefox 3 on Mac right now, so that's what I'll test downloading with.
The problem to me sounds like the kind of thing that happens when there is some kind of proxy server sitting between a web browser and web server, and it can't figure out what to do with the file it's downloading. Technically, this would be a "MIME type" issue, if that's the case, which is related to filename extensions (which was mentioned by dDemonicAngels in the other discussion thread), but the filename extension is not the only factor.

By the way, what is the filename of the file that you're downloading from the store? If you can, please single-click on the file to select it, then hit cmd-I to bring up Information for that file and check the Name & Extension area to get the full filename, including extension.
I just checked some files on our server, and the file that we're serving up out of the store is the same one we've been sending to Mac users since Dundjinni 1.0.6 was made available (as the Mac version of Dundjinni does not have a 1.0.7 version, but rather should be patched up to 1.0.7 from 1.0.6). All I can think of is what I mentioned above -- that there may be something either on your Mac or on your network (or ISP's network, or something) that is causing this to happen. The fact that your Mac seems to think that the file is two different things depending on which browser you download it with tends to indicate a problem that's outside of our ability to control or support.
Getting that filename from you might provide more clues. Please let me know what you're seeing there, and we can try to troubleshoot if it gives us a useful clue as to what's going on.
Thanks.

okay, sorry I got frustrated, I just was hoping for it to work right off the download. I am on a vista machine right now, and I was trying to download it here and then swap it over to my mac later tonight. the file name I am getting is this...Order2008901_SBD02_MAC.app.sitx hope that helps.
I really hope it works, I have been waiting in the wings until I could afford a computer that could handle dundjinni and I would hate to get stymied like this.

No problem spheremaster
We all get frustrated at times with our machines. Mine decides to just shut down occasionally and I am too lazy to get another power unit

wait, my mac ge sawtooth does that, it shuts off 3 minutes after turning it on, is that a likely a power supply issue? sometimes I would have to disconnect all exterior usb or firewire devices and play around with the power cord to turn it on and then it shuts off three minutes later.

Sounds like a power supply issue. Each USB device takes power away. So I shut down my 2 USB harddisks and try again. Usually that works.

.sitx? I'll have to check with Mindy and make sure that the online store is serving up the .zip version, because it's available on the server. My guess is that something for the Mac downloads got reconfigured somewhere in the store software when we released the 1.0.7 patch and updated Art Packs, and that the Mac download reverted back to the .sitx version vice the .zip.
.sitx is a file compressed with StuffIt, which used to be the preferred compression format for Macs. You can download a trial version of StuffIt from stuffit.com that will allow you to decompress the .sitx file. Sorry for the confusion here. If you'd prefer to not download and install StuffIt on your Mac to open your Dundjinni download, we should have the .zip version available asap. Either I or Mindy will post back here once that happens.
That said, either our webserver doesnn't know how to set the MIME type for .sitx files (which I don't doubt at this point, given some of the webhosting issues we've gone through) or your Mac is having problems figuring out what to do at download time with this kind of file. Either way, either using StuffIt will fix the problem, or giving us just a little time to get the .zip file back in the store should do it.
Sorry for the mixup, we'll get this straightened out.

spheremaster, the download link has been updated in the store to serve up a .zip file rather than a .sit, and you should have received an email from Mindy (who runs the store). Have you been able to download and install the program via the new link, or using Stuffit to decompress your previously downloaded version?
