I can still do this, but turnaround time may not be as fast as you (or I) would like. Please allow up to 2 weeks for delivery, since my time for printings is limited.

Cool!!! 2 weeks will do just fine. Tried to send an email to your hotmail account, but couldn't reach you.

Can you send me an email at jamesm@gmsyndicate.com, please, and we'll arrange getting the files to you, please???

Big thanks!!!

Althrim,

I was wondering if you could tell me exactly what type of equipment you are using to print out the large maps (printer make & model, and any software requirements) I would love to try and do this myself, if the cost were not to high

Thanks
Dave

I am primarily using an HP DesignJet 1050 plotter. I also have an HP DesignJet 5500 plotter for really big plots.

I also have access to a 60" Plotter if anyone in Canada would like to have some Maps printed out.

Different media types are available also.

quick question. How should I export a map so that I can print it out in exactly the same resolution and crispness DJ prints out. Obviously the jpg export won't work because it's neither big enough nor clean enough, thus I need to export in .bmp, but I'm not sure what value to place in the text box.

Thanks!

Why only Canada? Can you ship to the US and what are your rates?

I have recently upgraded my plotters from the HP DesignJet 1050 to the 4500. The printouts are much crisper, and I am using a heavier-duty and brighter white paper, so the maps look better and last longer.

Great to hear.

I'll bet that chunk of change really hurt when it hit the table.

Thanks,
GTech

I'd be interested in learning how you're doing it. I'd like to do it myself.

Can you repost how you would like us to submit our maps to get them printed, or which email we should use to contact you for further details?

Contact me at althrim@hotmail.com

Please send files in a .zip file, .jpg and .png are best for clarity and resolution.

I'm still "in business" for this service, and turnaround time is 2 weeks.

Which is cool and we appreciate it. But you're not doing it for the money... so how do you do it and we'll lighten your load.

First off, you have to have access to a color plotter that can handle 36" paper. It's all about scaling the image from 8x10 to 32x40.

And lately, not much load really. I'm hoping to hear from more DJ users who need large map printouts.

That's convenient, because lately I've been thinking about needing some large map printouts!

I'm sorry. I thought it was something simple like taking it down to Kinkos and giving them a memory stick but that you had to tell them x so it'd print right.

I'll take you up on your offer as soon as I get those maps done.

Thanks again,

No worries, RF.

I look forward to hearing from you and SB when you have maps you need printed.

I'm sorry if this is obvious, Althrim, but I am having a hard time calculating exactly how much it would cost me to have my latest map printed.

It's exported out of Dundjini at 100 dpi (I know, not very high resolution). I have to go with this lower number because even with that resolution, the final image is...

7,000 x 9,000 pixels

That would be 70 x 90 inches, obviously. Can you do that, and how many pieces? Also, how much would that cost me?

Edit: On second thought, since I use these just for electronic play, I only want the printout for art's sake. I would probably want one at 1/2 size for the wall. That be 1/2 inch squares and only 35 x 45 inches.
