Realdraw is based on bezier shapes on which you can apply colors, textures, transparencies, bevel (3d), various effects and 3dlights.
It's prety easy to use and gives those results. you can see my very first trial with it over here |

I'm incredibly impressed as well. I've been considering getting myself up to speed with Blender (http://www.blender3d.org) to do some items for my DJ maps, but this looks like a much faster and easier way to go.

r-kelleg, sorry it took me so long to get back to you, but yes, that baby looks like it's sat out in the rain, had an axle replaced, and an orc warlord spat on it when it failed to fire one day. Yeah, both new items are outstanding.
Can't wait for the trebuchet...
Would it be possible to get a wooden and metal ladder. You know, something that looks like it's leading down a hole/opening, slightly leaned up against the wall. For your future consideration.

And while we're about begging for stuff, I like the usual barrels we seem to get, with a top view, but quite often places like inns and breweries store barrels on their side, any chance we could get a couple of different styles, even one maybe which has been broken open or smashed, with it's lid and/or rings hanging off? You know ... the patron who got a bit too boozed up and rowdy, and took offence at the bard with the really reedy voice?

here is a ladder
and the way I made it in a dozen of steps.
I think that it's pretty obvious but here are comme comments.
1) I draw a line
2)I changed its width
3) I put a wood texture on it and
4) added a bevel effect
5) I made one rung and copy it several times
6) I made the ends of the ladder
7) I pakaged the objects and change the perspective.
8) Last I added few details on the ends and a shadow at th bottom
and that's all.

These are truly amazing. Of course, I downloaded the trial version of the software that you mentioned you used, and even with your overview, am not able to do anything that comes close to what you're presenting us with.
