These barges are great! I also love the new tarp, it is infinitely better.

Futureboy, I also have this question, and have re-posted it in the tips section of the forum in an attempt to get a discussion going about it there.

The tarp is much improved. Great job!

Wish I knew how you got that effect.

Heruca, if you are really interested, I can try to give an example of how I did it this weekend when I get a chance. It was really pretty simple once I figured it out.

I am interested, if you can spare the time. And I'm sure a lot of others could
benefit from it. Thanks.

Some great objects. Here's some tarp variants to create some contrast...

Excellent! Handy for customizing/differentiating multiple boats.

Great job Halebop! I was looking at the barge last night in that murky river water thinking it looked a little... well, brown.

Heruca, I thought I would try to do a quick walk-through
of how I made it. First here is a picture I made:

Okay, for the tarp I just found a "tarpy" texture and made a basic rectangle over my barge to fit over the
cross beams. I then made it transparent so I could see the beams through it and get all my modifications in the
right spot. I then added editing points where the crossbeams met the edge of the tarp. I added curves
between the points to get the shape of the tarp.

From there I made the shadows (I waited until the end to remove the transperancy).
1-created black rectangle cover almost half the space between the cross beams.
2-Edited points to fit in curved portion of tarp.
3-Applied fade-out
4-Added transparency (94% on long rectangle/74 & 89 on side "squares")
5-For the thin shadow along the edge, I made a triangle and only did the inside out fade. I may have adjusted
the fade settings, but you could just add transperancy there as well.

I know that is a really quick version of it. Let me know if you have any additional questions.

Thanks for the tutorial, Futureboy. I'll have to try that technique soon. Looks
very useful.
