Quoted from Futureboy:
Okay, I have a quick question....
I think I read in a post a while back to use about 200 pixels for 5'. I didn't think about that while making my river barge, but actually, using that scale works out about right for it when I look at it. Makes it around 12ish' x 50-60ish'. Now what resolution do you guys use as a standard - 96? Or do you set your image by inches and then set your resolution to whatever you want (according to file size)?

End Quote

I also have this question. I have been using 200px for 5 feet and 200dpi, but this makes for big files when the objects are large. I sometimes work at 400dpi when the objects are tiny, or you can't see the details when they are blown up bigger! What have otehrs used? What is best, and what do people prefer?

Does anyone know what is the max (and default) dpi that DJ prints at, assuming 5ft sqaures are 1 inch? That would seem to be the default, then higher rez, if you think people are likely to scale the object bigger, and lower rez if you are trying to keep the file size down.

lastly, when objects are smaller than 5ft, should we make the image have extra blank space around it to fill up the 5 feet so that it 'snaps' correctly, or just leav it small?

That's pretty much what I've been using, give or take--40px/ft or 200px/5ft at 200dpi, though if I can I usually render things at 500dpi.

That's kind of a subjective question. IMO, just leave it small--we don't have to snap everything. I end up placing most things by hand anyways.
