Hi all,
I've been working on this wizard's dwelling and I've hit a stumbling block. I intended on putting a curved staircase next to the tower leading to the second floor, but I've been unable to create (in PSP 8) or find any curved stair art or curved shadows that work. Can anyone please direct me to or post the art needed for this project? I'm posting a zipped jpeg version so you can get an idea of what I'm looking for. Thanks!

You could make a curved stair object to fit and it wouldn't really be too hard but it would be of limited utility because it was only fit towers exactly that size.
There are viable work arounds though they just require a steady hand...
Have a look at Micah's stair map here
Have a look at Kepli's step objects here
So, breaking it down: Create a thicker rail out of the same stone wall texture on the outside curve of the stair. The place the step objects between the inner and outer wall at regular intervals. You will need to turn them and place them by hand. Ensure you push them below the level of the wall. I'd also suggest painting down a different floor or wall texture under the path of the stair, one that is more "omnidirectional" than the square flagstone. Voila!

Thanks Halebop. I was hoping to find something that was a clean edge rather than a crumbled look, though it does look impressive. I tried using the general stair overlays that are out there, but I found that doing so made the diagonal lines look very bitmappy since they were created as straight lines. If you happen to know of a way to avoid that I'd really love to hear it.
Change my flooring?! Gads! Then I'd have to choose all new decore!

Melisere, that is a pretty large room. How long do you want your stair case? If I get a chance I'll do something this weekend (or at least try...).

Thanks Futureboy. Sorry about the late reply, I've got a new baby in the house so my fun time is a bit scarce these days.
I had already framed out the spot in the foyer room with a curved wall. It's just outside the tower on its north east edge. The bottom level of the tower is going to be an entertaining/sitting room with no stairs. The entry way to the tower will actually be on the second floor (still in the planning). But to answer your question, about 10 to 15 feet depending on what looks better.
However, in light of your super amazing marble stairs I've decided to redesign the lower level slightly to use those instead. So I won't actually need the curved ones until I begin the second (and above) floors.
Speaking of which... any chance of getting those marble textures as a floor design? They are far superior to any others I've seen so far.
