Nice! Benches are one of those oft-used, seldom-made objects, glad you posted one :)

Kepli, I looked at the scale and I don't think it looks bad. I intended the bench to be about 7-8 Ft in length about 2.5 ft wide. What were the dimensions you pictured? The shadows do have an issue so I will be fixing that. Though if you are speaking of the shadow being pushed forward instead of the standard shadow it was done on purpose so the object could sit against a wall. Thanks for your feedback.

The scale sounds very good ...
A normal shadow won't give a problem with a wall, as long as the wall is on a higher layer (the bench is under the wall so to speak).

Doooh, I did not think of that   and I always place the object on the lower layer. I have always just made wall objects without shadows on the backside...Thanks for the info.

Late Lunch day and not much time (so couldn't work on traps). I see a lot of people using these benches in maps. I figured cushions would add more flexibility. I left them white for full keplification abilities. Though I must say the white has a nice retro look for the modern people.

Nice.

Could you do a transparent (non-white version)? Basically I'd like just the
shadows that define the object. Then we could place it over any color
background and have a cushion in that color (or texture).

I just tried doing this in Photoshop but couldn't figure it out without
redrawing the whole cushion from scratch.

excellent work

I believe some have a coloured shadow too though. Can you create these by first removing the shadow, recolouring them and then adding back the shadow?
Or ... the coloured shadow is a glow ... like that actually

And here's an attempt at the transparent one:

i set master transparency at 50%...does it work?

Edit:added one at 25% transparency

And an example in DJ:

I think you can tell which one is the 25% one

the ones on the right bench are regular white ones

(Trying to save GreyTale some work )

Here you go Heruca.

4 different versions with increasing degrees of shadow transparency:

Originals are on the sideways bench, cushion 01, 02, and 03 are on the first set of benches (placed in that order).

Cushion 04 IMO was the best and most versitile.
It is the only one shown on the 2nd set of benches as well as using different floor colors underneath to demo various possible uses.

Sample Jpeg:

The cushion shadows:

If these aren't what you are looking for, let me know, and I'll see what I can do.

No problem anytime.

HOORAY for Blades!!

Note: I think the Cushion shadows would probably serve most people best if they were used outside of DJ, in Photoshop for instance, as an overlay, to make additional textured and colored cushions for use as DJ objects.

... unless, of course, we had some more pre-cushion textures, sized for use under them ... hmmm ...

Just my thoughts,
GTech

Nice cushion shadows gtech. However, I have one slight critisism..if there is a 'button' decoration in the pillows, there should also be a shadow for the indentation of the button. Otherwise it just is distracting..at least to me.

No problem Heruca, Glad you like them.

Dragonlady: Thanks for the critique.
I see your point, and I agree, it is a little distracting if you focus on it long enough.

I would like to point out, though, that the indentation of the cushion surrounding the button is eluded to by the striations (sp?) radiating from it.

Also, a button in a cushion would depress the soft cushion material around it, shortening any shadow that an already low profiled button would project.

If I were to add additional shadowing around the button, it may appear to "levitate" above the cushion.

However, if you'd like a button free version, I may be able to whip something up.

Thanks,
GTech

Thanks, everyone, for all of the kind words.

But, the real credit should really go to GreyTale for creating the original cushion.

Modest thanks,
