Just a teaser piece for the start of the mechanical trap series and a late crunchtime special.

Table trap from the DOTW

Function: Place object in center of table. If it is lifted by PC it triggers a pressure plate that releases rotating spring loaded blades. Should catch them right across the thighs. Halflings should easily spot this trap.

Gravity Saw Added 8-19-06

Function: The saw is mounted in a groove on a wall and runs down either a sloped floor or track on the wall.
Once released it rolls down the slope with it's wheels turning the gears, turning the chain, turning the blade that slices the PC in two.
Two blades on both sides of the hallway is double the fun.

In Use

Regular old blades Added 8/20/06

Curved Blades Added 8/20/06 PM

In Use

Half Saw Zip (Updated with curved blades)

Z54_sawblade_half_gt.ZIP

Spike Ceiling Trap Added 9-1-06

Rope In Use

The Pit Grinder Added 9-14-06

In Use

Function: When the doors are stepped on a trigger beneath releases a weight suspended by a rope in a parallel shaft. The rope is coiled around a pulley attached to the grinder. As the weight falls it uncoils the rope and spins the spiked shafts of the grinder.
100% PC patties.

Surrounding the grinder is a 3" section of wood if the PC is lucky enough or skilled enough to land there he or she can wait till the grinder stops. This occurs when the weight hits the base of the parallel shaft. You determine that.

The scything trap Added 9/19/06

Standard Shadow

Raised Shadow

In Use

Throwing star trap (Left large to scale as needed) Added 10/19/06

Single stars Added 10-20-06

Zip of all stars

2ZE_startrap_gt.zip

In Use

I didn't post in the wall thread because I didn't want to commit. But I really like those walls. I have liked them since I saw them in your Sulaco cargo bay map.
Though I am not commiting to doing them I am leaning strongly. And the list gets longer.

"What's for lunch today?"

"The chef has a surprise dish ... all prepared ... Just for you." *insert maniacal laughter here*

OR

"What would you like for lunch today?"

"Ummm ... surprise me."

"Ok." *click* *shhllink*

"OH MY GO..!!" *gurgle* ... *squirt* *squirt* ... *gurgle* "... Rrruuhhhggggllll" ... *Thump*

"Surprise." *insert maniacal laughter here*

-----

Nothing like a trap hidden in plain sight.

Great Work GreyTale!!
Glad to see the project off to a "delicious" start.

Along the same style:
How about one that looks like a large circular saw blade, with lots of sharp teeth, jutting halfway out of the wall? Both horizontal and vertical versions?

Man ... This thread has sooooo much potential!

Thanks,
GTech

Oh. My. God.

Cool beyond words. This is going to be an awesome set.

The saw blade is so well textured, I dont think it could be improved. Except
for maybe a bloody variant.

Awesome job GT! Gotta say I really like the rope: It has a spider-silk look to it. Feel free to make more rope stuff...(hint hint)

For all you twisted DMs here is a midnight snack.

Very nice, and gruesome.

Not sure you really need the grey edges on the top and bottom, though.

Will post a version without them. My thinking was some type of transition between the floor and the shaft was needed to show depth to the floor covering, but I will see what everyone thinks and mod from the peoples choice.

I am not sure how these would be used as a static object but might be fun to slam down on a map.
