I was wondering if there was any chance of the Java versioning issue to be fixed. The idea that it takes a specific version, and only that version, to be installed makes it very difficult for me.
I have a variety of software that I work with that uses different versions of Java, 1.5, 1.4. 6.0. This software is the only one that has a problem with other versions being installed, and I don't want to find out that I have to keep uninstalling and reinstalling the versions of Java each patch of DJ.

A DJ patch is currently being worked on and tested, which should eliminate
the Java-version hangups.

This is great to hear. I may look at upgrading to the full version once that is out.
Also, what would be the procedure of upgrading to 2.0 if I purchase the current version soon, and 2.0 comes out shortly after?

DJ2 is probably too far off still to consider holding off purchasing DJ1.
Mindy has stated that there will be an upgrade price from DJ1 to DJ2, and that artpacks for DJ1 will still work for DJ2 (although they might need to be
re-downloaded and re-installed).

Sweet....So there will be some price discount if you are just upgrading to DJ2 from DJ1? Also, will re-downloading and re-installing the art packs cause any to be lost? Of course, since you have purchased them already, is there a way to make sure you don't have any issues with redownloading them?

Upgrade price = discounted price compared to a new purchase.
The online store tracks who bought what artpack (even now with DJ 1). In
the event of a computer disaster, if you don't have backups (which you really
SHOULD), you are allowed to re-download the artpacks you've paid for.

So exactly how far off is the release of DJ 2.0? Any estimation would be appreciated... I am eager to get my hands on the added functionality.

We have a design, but the actual development takes place after the new patch comes out. So it will be a while
Sorry to be so vague, but from experience I know to not give estimates when we haven't even started building yet
