Hi,

it's almost a month I am toying with the Dundjinni demo trying ot determine if it's meet my requirements... I am a wargame (both board and miniature) and I plan to use Dundjinni to make wonderful scenario maps and maps for creating my own games expansions (or to rework some already published maps) especially for operational and tactical games. Now I want to ask you some questions before jumping in and buying the sopftware (wwhich I have found easy to us and reasonably powerful in the demo). I hope these questiona hven't already been asked countless times

1)To have complete buildings viewed from above (not interiors, only top down views) I need one of the art packs?

2)Hezes, how I can resize them? In the demo I can nly make the cells smaller and not larger. And how I can know how big they will become in print?

3)I can rotate the hexgrain?

4)I can Add numbering to the grid?

5)In which formats maps are saved?

Thanks in advance for the answers.

Welcome aboard Arrigo

To asnwer your questions ...

1. No, you don't need one of the art-packs for that. Some people have made great roofs you can use for that.
Here are a few links to buildings seen from above:
by Dungarvon
by Aegean
by Hylas

2. Unfortunately I don't use hexes, but I also tried enlarging the grid and that doesn't work. But when you print a map, you can enter the size of each grid hex in the Print Dialog. So you can also enter 2 inch instead of the default 1 inch.

3. No, this version of DJ doesn't support rotating the grid. You will have to work turned yourself and after rotate after printing or exporting

4. Only by hand ... using the Text tool or stamping down numbers and letters people have made. I even believe someone created those for this purpose.

5. Full DJ maps are saved in dja-format and Battlemaps are saved in dja-format. Both formats are only readable by DJ.
Exporting maps creates an image in either JPG, PNG or BMP format. The latter will give you the best result (at 200dpi), but will also take a lot more time.

If you have more questions, let us know

Happy mapping

Hmm I seem to have never put links to my roof set on the forums!

You can see all of the roofs I've done along with bits to add on like decks, cellar doors, stairs and chimneys on RPGMapShare

All of Hylas's stuff is there. My stuff can be found on Pages 3-6 of Fantasy Objects - Structures

Hylas's stuff is takes up much more room on RPGMapshare :)

I'm not sure what scale Hylas is using but my roofs are all 200pixels/5'. Some pieces like my large inn slow DJ down as it is over 24meg.

You can see an example of my buildings and mod pieces here at the bottom of my first post.

If you need more variations on buildings I could render a few more. Hylas has TONS of variations and would probably be my first stop.

Hmm I was just thinking....are you running a fantasy or modern game?
